Dr. Celeste Chiam is an enthusiastic coach and a dedicated educator whose passion for creativity spans music, dance, early education, student development, acting, podcasting, content creation and humanistic endeavors. Actively engaged in creative projects, music education, performances, and initiatives that uplift humanity, she also has a reputation for fostering exceptional growth in her students. Dr. Chiam exudes a naturally inspiring energy in her teaching, achieving remarkable results through a mindful approach that delicately balances warmth and intensity, elevating both musicality and technical mastery. Her dedication as an educator stems from a belief in the innate potential of every student, regardless of age or level, and she is committed to guiding them toward artistic excellence. For her, music is not just an acquired skill or a tool for creative expression, it is an effective pathway to cultivate meaningful life skills.
As a performer, Dr. Chiam embraces a wide spectrum of the performing arts, rooted in classical music, extending to musical theater, with a recent immersion in Argentine tango music and dance. Guided by an intrinsic understanding of music as the universal language of the heart, she finds joy in collaborating with like-minded musicians to inspire love and hope, leveraging the arts and culture as powerful forces to unite people. She takes inspiration from Plato’s timeless reflections in The Republic, where he highlights music’s vital role in education, nurturing harmony and order within the soul.
Dr. Chiam began her musical journey at the age of four, following the curriculum of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. She earned her Licentiate Performer Diploma through Trinity London College by the end of high school. During her tertiary education in the United States, Dr. Chiam was recognized as a winning soloist in competitions, performing with orchestras, and was the recipient of numerous scholarships and grants. She attributes her freedom for individualistic expressiveness to the mentorship of Dr. Jane Solose, her technical mastery to Falko Steinbach, and her ability to deliver heart-moving performances to the inspiration and sincere care of Phiroze Mehta. She is grateful for the extensive pedagogical training under the guidance of the esteemed Dr. Deborah Martin and Dr. Diane Helfers Petrella.
While piano is Dr. Chiam’s principal instrument, she played the violin for twelve years and performed with orchestras locally and abroad. Additionally, Dr. Chiam studied classical voice and joined various chorus performances as a singer, accompanist, and conductor. Dancing is as much of a passion in Dr. Chiam’s life as music, and while her primary discipline was in ballet, she has experience in modern, jazz, tango and selected ballroom dancing. Notably complementary to Dr. Chiam’s musical foundation, her dance background adds to her being a versatile performing artist and a well-rounded instructor. With deep appreciation for the field of awakening joy, Dr. Chiam finds profound fulfillment in a career that touches hearts, enhances lives, and empowers people through creative expressions!
