A Bohemian Tour

Founding member of the world-renowned Emerson String Quartet, Philip Setzer brings unparalleled artistry and musicianship to the Black Hills in a first-ever performance in the state of South Dakota. Entitled “A Bohemian Tour”, the program will feature Setzer alongside the Rushmore Concert Artists, performing the magnificent Dvořák Piano Quintet, Arensky Quartet in A minor, and a set of Violin Duos by Bartók to feature Setzer alongside his former student, Katie Smirnova, who is the the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of the Rushmore Music Festival.

Setzer, a long time Board Member of the Rushmore Music Festival, will appear for the first time this summer as a Distinguished Guest Artist-in-Residence with the Rushmore Concert Artists. As part of the Emerson String Quartet, Setzer has made more than 30 acclaimed recordings, and has been honored with nine GRAMMYs® (including two for Best Classical Album), three Gramophone Awards, the Avery Fisher Prize, and Musical America’s “Ensemble of the Year” award.
